High elite of Russian Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1917-1989): statistics review

Abstract

The article deals with biographies of party leaders since 1917 up to 1989. The author analyses lives of 193 party boss by age, social, urban or rural background, nationality, career and death. The author shows the changes in demands on the person, aspiring to become a party-boss. The examples given in the text illustrate well enough the tendency of party elite to stagnation.
