Innovations and Traditions of the Russian Agrocomplex

The actual state of Russian agriculture is the focus of this article. It discusses the distribution of agricultural producers with respect to the variety of technological modes, the innovative capacity of particular sectors of agrarian economy, the possibilities of promoting production growth in agriculture, etc. It also provides a general assessment of the situation in Russian agriculture based on the analysis of sociological data collected in rural areas. Three types of agricultural production processes are distinguished in the article: intensely technocratic, naturally innovative, and self-subsistent. The first one refers to advanced agricultural enterprises of different organizational forms, including farmer economy. The second one includes collective enterprises and farms of different developmental stages. And the third one consists of private part-time farms and rural household producers. The advantages and disadvantages of each type of these processes are analyzed, as well.
